aimee is full of fandoms

aimee is full of fandoms aieea: my name without consonants. consonants are important.
FANDOMS! Sherlock, Supernatural, The Whedonverse, Arrow, Veronica Mars, Doctor Who/ Torchwood, Top Gear (BBC and US), Starkid, Harry Potter, Spaced, Big Bang Theory, Gilmore Girls, Glee, Eureka, New Girl, Community, Almost Human, & The Walking Dead.

I also read a lot and watch terrible movies.

I have funny friends and a handy notebook, documented at The Status Quote

When you’re reading a series and you think you’re on the last one… but then you finish it and realize there’s one more.  And you have to wait a year.

So for some reason the ‘share’ button doesn’t show up on any of my dash posts on my other tumblr.

that button is how I edit it as a portfolio.  I don’t know why or how it happened… WHAT HAPPENED.

all of my buttons are fine on this one.

These dreamlike sculptures are the work of Chinese artist Hu Shaoming, sculptor and graduate of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. For his city series Shaoming created an awesome transparent blue mechanical seahorse, submerged in water with a silver cityscape on the top of its head emerging from the surface of the water.

For a series dealing with the concept of time, Shaoming disassembled old objects, such as cameras and telephones, and then rebuilt them with the surreally beautiful addition of zippers which open to reveal the inner mechanisms of each device.

Check out more awesome artwork by Hu Shaoming on Jue.so.

When I was a teenager, I was very critical of feminism too. I was a white girl, about to grow up into a world of white privilege, and I didn’t see the point. Then, the workplace discrimination started happening, then the sexual harassment, then the assaults, then the catcalls, then the condescension from men who weren’t as smart or accomplished as me, the sports coach who was too friendly, the male mentor with other intentions, the drunk male friend who won’t leave the room after the party so you can sleep, the car horns blaring, the groping: it all started happening at about the age of fifteen. I started realising that there was a large portion of the population to whom I was as good as chattel: I was an object to be acted upon.

I also started realising that I’ve been a female misogynist my whole life, and had a lot of unlearning to do too. Change starts with eliminating the noxious parts of yourself you have internalised during socialisation in a misogynistic culture. Feminism isn’t just about stopping the abuse of women by men, it’s about stopping the abuse we do to ourselves and others by genuinely beginning to believe we deserve to be treated as less than human.

The unsung heroes.

That was one of the most horrifying, painful, beautiful parts of the movie.  So many of them weren’t prepared, so many were administrators who had no clue that the STRIKE teams had turned, let alone that a killing machine like the Winter Soldier was on the loose.

So many of them died.

And yet none of them hesitated.  Despite the propaganda Pierce had unleashed, despite their orders, despite everything, they still responded.  Their sacrifice, their heroism - they gave the last full measure of devotion, and I can’t imagine that Steve wouldn’t attend the memorial service, even if he had to use a wheelchair or a cane because his own wounds hadn’t finished healing.

"Captain’s orders" indeed.

without these people, there IS no Captain America.

Gordon Ramsay challenged James May from Top Gear to to eat the dreaded rotten shark in order to see who was more manly. Ramsay laughed as May lifted up a bucket before beginning, a bucket that Ramsay would soon become deeply acquainted with.

James May proceeded to dryly rebuked Gordon Ramsay’s weakness.

"You think it’s cool to hate things. And it’s not. It’s boring. Talk about what you love and keep quiet about what you don’t."

Obama on gay adoption

yeah totally ruining this country what a horrible guy

Fun fact: Obama has attempted to fix almost everything that he promised to fix, but the republicans have voted almost all of his bills out of congress. He’s not the problem.

That fact isn’t very fun
